Focusing on Life -- #3 Take Time

If taking time for oneself were an Olympic sport, I do believe I'd be the Michael Phelps of it.  I learned a long time ago -- from Oprah, of course -- that you need to take care of yourself in order to effectively take care of others.  She did not have to tell me twice!

Nonetheless, there always seems to be one or two things that I long to do, but just can't seem to make enough time for.  This week, it was painting my nails.  It has honestly been at least a year, if not two or three, since I have done this, so in addition to getting it done, I did it on trend with ... blue!

I've never had blue nails before and I enjoyed them immensely!  I've also never been to Fiji, but their water is quite delish.

Thanks for reigniting my passion for painted fingernails, Sally!  This weekend, I hope to give purple a try ... =)

If you'd like to see the posts of all those who are participating in Sally's challenge, or if you think you might like to join in on the fun yourself, head on over to The Studio Sublime for links and details.

Can you add flowers to the purple? Pleeeeeeze?

You have very beautiful hands.

My nails, and me in entirety, used be so very well groomed. Now...I have become mostly a slob.

Gotta change, gotta change, running off to go change....

(Hey, can you disable the word verification?_

@Kashmira
Thank you for the word verification reminder Kashmira! I forgot to disable it for this post ...

I'll have my teenage daughter help me with the flowers on the purple nail polish! =)

What a cool color! I have not painted my nails in YEARS now...you have what I call "gorgeous nail beds" - the perfect nail shape! I, on the hand (no pun intended) do not!

What a great way to treat yourself! I love the color you chose.

I've never been successful at painting my nails. Maybe it's because I use the cheap stuf and just slap it on.....

Your nails are just perfect!

Beautiful nails. What a lovely treat for yourself. I am the same way. As much as I want to do mine, there is always something else to do. I am so glad you made the time.

Oh, I love your blue nails - love them!! Your photo is very cool, too. Reminds me I need to do my toes,...I think I want silver again - it's bright and cheery like the blue you have on!

Love the blue!! I'm an orange gal, but I might just have to give the blue a go!

Blue nails, how trendy! I have some green nail polish that came in a gift bag from a friend. I haven't used it yet. Can a grandmother have green nails? LOL

Love your blue nails! If you want to add flowers, just get some of those 'stickers' for nails, I used to have the glitzy ones (when i still had some decent nails)... lots of fun :)

ha! love the color. I have been to Fiji, and I can tell you that the sea snakes have stripes this color :)

Ooh, that's a gorgeous blue! I used to do my nails every week until I quit working. I should start again...

I'm liking your blue nails. I thought of nails also but opted not to. I tried blue once and even lacquer thinner from our shop would not remove all the stain.

What fun! I can't wear the stuff myself, it drives me nuts. I seem to have to pick it off the second it's dry. Looks great on you though :)

Love the photo! Perfect with the Fiji water. I haven't had my nails "done" in years either, the closest I get is some polish on my toes which as you can probably tell in my photo still haven't gotten done :)

I love the blue! I recently painted my nails and toes a similar color. That color is invigorating!

Oh, if transporting yourself to Fiji were as simple as a sip! I love that you took this mini-vacation. Enjoy the day. Erin

Haha. I can so relate to the hiatus from nail painting. I find I don't like how my nails feel with polish when I am beading. (weird, huh?) But your blue looks terrific and inspires me to maybe give my bare bones nails another thought.

I need to listen to Oprah more often! And, paint my nails. . .but I do that fairly often already. Blue is a favorite color of mine for my nails. You wear it well too! :)

What a fun idea! I love the idea of painted nails, but my finger tips can't seem to breath when the nails are covered with polish. So I am stuck admiring other people's painted nails. And that blue is simply cool!
