The perfect creative storm for me consists of having to work with particular components and being given a deadline. Imagine my delight then when I was lucky enough to be chosen to participate in the Art Jewelry Elements Component of the Month challenge for May!
The reason I enjoy working with specific components is because I find restrictions rein in the possibilities while also pushing me to try new things. The reason I like deadlines is because I'm really super good at procrastination. We're talking Olympic Gold Medal good. So when I found out I was chosen for this challenge, I wanted to make sure I didn't wait until the last minute to finish everything. Instead, I waited until two days before the last minute. This is serious commitment for me!
When I received these lovely little candyesque cabochon jewels from Sue Kennedy of Sue Beads earlier this month, I had absolutely no idea how my limited skill set was going to do these beauties justice.
So I contemplated ... and plotted ... and planned. Finally, the idea of a polymer bracelet bar, waxed linen and a bit of macramé came to fruition.
As I was taking pictures of my new bracelet out on our deck, I realized I may have inadvertently been inspired by my flowers that hang there. Such a happy coincidence!
I really enjoyed working with Sue's glass cabochons, and I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to create this happy little bracelet for myself. Thank you Sue and AJE!
Please take a moment to check out what the rest of this month's group created with their Sue Beads cabs! Thank you!

Love the subliminal inspiration, t's a lovely design and the colours are beautiful!
Well done! I love the colors in your bracelet and the design.
Lola - what fun! you used all three and they look great. Brilliant idea with the bracelet bar... I would love to learn that slide knot.
Such a sweet bracelet and perfect for summer!
This is a great fun piece Lola and very original.
Oh Lola, I love it - I love the colors! Perfect for the summer and I love to hear about your need for deadlines, although this month a deadline still didn't help me. Thanks so much for playing along!
Oh Lola you have a much larger skill set than you give yourself credit for! This is gorgeous. Oh and you and I may just have to fight over that gold metal I can give you a running in the procrastination department!
Love the design and how great you were able to use all 3 cabs together! Your bracelet is perfect for summer and for camouflage when sitting by the flowers and you don't want any nosy neighbors to stop for a chat ;-) I totally relate to the deadline...it's bad for me too!
Thanks for participating in the design challenge this month and for reading AJE!
I am a pro at procrastination too, everything is always done in the last minuite! I love how you have used so many different mediums in one piece and your macramé and bead work is beautiful!
I think you may be correct, we may long lost craft sisters! How beautifully your polymer project turned out! I love the little rivets you used! And the bead colors are a perfect match to the cabs! Great job! I have added your blog to my 'must read' list.
Great idea, Lola. I love how your flowers inspired you, even when you didn't know it.
Hi Lola, your bracelet is very creative and unique. You are more talented than you give yourself credit for. This is a beautiful piece. I too am a procrastinator.
